Dogs vs Cats

Let us outline the main differences between dogs and cats.

Sound

Dogs bark with a woof sound while cats meow (and thus the title of this site). Producing such sounds serve functional purposes, but a dog's bark is more functional than a cat's meow.

A dogs woof can be classified into three main catagories, warning, alarm and amusement (serving no actual purpose). A warning bark is a defensive signal when the animal is threatened. Alarm barking is when the dog would like to alert his human companion. Barks with no real function are soley for the human's amusement purpose, in which the dog is command to bark.

A cat's meow however, serves no functional at all. It is just a kind of interaction with humans. Cats communcate with each other through body language.

Food

When we think of food for the two animals, we would easily think of bones for dogs and fish for cats. First of all, dogs do not eat bones, they just bite them to train their jaws. As for cats, they have no special prefernce for fish or other diets like milk. It might be just the portraits of cats in cartoons which gave us such impression.

Both dogs and cats are omnivores who eat both meat and vegetable. Dogs and cats can have raw meat, but due to hygiene reasons they are usually fed with cooked meat. The two species are mammals so their infants (puppies and kittens) would feed on milk.
